(click for video)The Maned Wolf is neither a fox nor a wolf. Discuss.
This weekend I escaped the 9-6 and went to check out MetroCon in Tampa. I whipped up a little steampunk number that I'd like to continue to build on, (I'm thinking Engineer. A big honkin' toolbelt, a leather bracer with smaller watch repairing tools hooked to it, some bigger boots... ALWAYS bigger boots!) and I was joined by Rene (who also whipped up a steampunk number and took pictures!), Axis (who shows disapproval of anime shenanigans) and John (who had very short notice.) Costumes were complimented, swag was perused, and dice were bought. We also went to visit Maggie and her family, including her ADORABLE daughter! Yay! Then we cut out back to Orlando while Axis continued to party hard at the Castle. When I got home, I found a sheep in my house. Mon, Jun. 15th, 2009, 02:19 pm Olympia!

Come one, come all! Sunday Picnic at Bok Tower Gardens!Sunday, June 7th. Around 11 AM Tickets are $10, Florida Residents are $8 with ID. Dress up or dress down, bring snacks and sketchpads and cameras! According to the website, it's about an hour and a half drive from Orlando. If people want to carpool we can designate a place to meet or pick each other up. I'll be happy to drive people down, but my car has no air conditioning. So beware! Also, feel free to re-post this and bring friends! The more the merrier. :)
Some personal details and their origins: Pointed NailsI tried out a lot of strange fashions in high school. I went through hair colors like blue, purple, green, black & red, I wore all sorts of goth finery, fishnet shirts, and took any excuse to paint up my face. I eventually grew out of everything but the pointed nails. What started as a fashion statement now also serves as a back scratch enhancer, eye gouging support tool, balloon popper, and seal/package opener. Blonde BangsAs was mentioned, I dyed my hair a lot of crazy colors in high school. When I got to a point where I needed to look more professional, I took it down to just keeping my bangs bleached. It's an idea I stole from one of my original characters, Mirael, who wore her hair in two long bangs in the front and shaggy spines of a darker color in the back. Sometimes in my art I'll use Mirael to represent myself, so it makes sense to share a common feature, right? I've been keeping the bangs blonde for four years now, though the rest of my hair has obviously gone through a few cuts. TattooI promised my parents I wouldn't get a tattoo until I was 21 if they let me dye my hair and dress crazy. Sometime in my 21st year, after going with Sanders to get his tattoo, I decided to get my favorite symbol (the one I use as a signature in my art) tattooed on my left hip. It's an eye with a jester's cap, representing among other things, my dedication to spread joy and keep a positive outlook. Emily went with me and held my hand. :) EarringFor the longest time, I didn't have my ears pierced at all. Then, in November of 2006, I received news of my aunt's death. We were very close. Being the dramatic sort, she loved wearing big dangling earrings. So to remember her, I had my right ear pierced. I resolved to never buy my own earrings, so every earring I wear is a gift. (So if you ever aren't sure what to get me, I like earrings!) Usually, I'm wearing a silver spiky hedgehog stud, a wonderful find from across the ocean courtesy of artnouveauho! <3 NecklaceAs I try to have some meaning to my worn accessories, I much prefer symbols over expensive gems when it comes to necklaces. I've worn a silver cross with two serpents, a pewter kokopelli, a black pearl and silver fruit, and currently I'm wearing a carved wooden lizard pendant from my mother. Tell me about your little things! Why do you adorn yourself the way you do? What's the story behind the things you keep on you?
Any Florida people up for organizing a day trip and picnic at Bok Tower Gardens? :D I feel the need for some culture, plant adoration, and simple, non-technological socializing.
Now, I've heard of them for years since they got a show on television, but they always appeared to me as being some sort of emo next big thing that was more hype than it was comedy.
Recently, I was introduced to their music through the company's Friday Playlist, where everyone puts music in a folder and we podcast it on fridays. "It's Business Time", and "You're So Beautiful" became some of my favorite songs on the playlist. They were very well played, and the lyrics were crazy clever! When I researched their music videos on the youtube, I found out those were pretty good, too. (Though their second season seemed hit-or-miss on both song quality and the funny.)
Posted here: "Bret, You've Got It Going On" an attempt to console a sad friend gone wrong. One of my favorites. I just can't stop watching it!
Also won tickets to one of the first premiere opening parties for SeaWorld's new flying coaster, the Manta. It's not the fastest, or the scariest, but it is definitely the most unique coaster I've ever been on. You spend the whole ride face-down on your stomach, going through loops and spins head-first. It is not a sensation that I can describe, but it is not a feeling you can get from any other coaster either!
If you love roller coasters, you should check it out. If you don't love roller coasters, this one is not as bad as some of them, and will give you a pretty good idea of what flying is like. Good job, Bolliger & Mabillard. You built a good one. :D
Oh, I also lost my phone on the coaster. Don't keep anything loose or heavy in your pockets on this one, because it WILL fly out. Just get a locker. The 75 cents is worth still having your phone afterwards. Sun, May. 3rd, 2009, 11:23 pm Ruh-roh!
Crazy times on the forum as we get into our first multi-school fight scene. Also gearing up to start the tabletop Deadlands Campaign, which will explore the gifts and drawbacks of being a Seventh Daughter of a Seventh Son in a nightmare version of the weird, Wild West. And she's a huckster! In the meantime, working at NFi 40 hours a week and making friends with a few different corporate contacts, waiting for my degree to come in the mail, and flying up to NJ to talk DM shop with that most sensible of Jacksons. Okay, it's also a work trip. I like my real life. I like my pretend lives, too. I'd say things are going fairly well over all. :)

"He said "Hi, pleased to meet you, my name is Lloyd Dobler, I'll get straight to the point, won't take too much time from ya, I'm probably the youngest person you'll get advice from today, And you may think that a guy my age wouldn't have anything to say, But it's said that observation, not old age, brings wisdom, And I observe every single life lesson I'm given, I won't attempt tell you how to love or be loved, Because you get a different genie each time that lantern is rubbed, But I will offer you advice on dealing with life, Its ups and its downs, Its troubles and its strifes, Now I'm sure you've had times when you've felt down or angry, Wanted to lash out, punch a wall and be manly, But the question I pose now will offer you a plan B, And maybe some peace and quiet for your friends and family, How hard is it to decide to be in a good mood, And then just be.. in.. a good mood? That's all I have to say because it's a straight up fact, You control your emotions, it's as simple as that", He walked off then, leaving me to contemplate this brief encounter, I'd barely had time to realize I was being taught something before he was gone, And I was back on my way."
- "Waiting for the Beat to Kick In" Dan Le Sac vs. The Scroobius Pip (British electronica rap? I love this guy's lyrics.)
Hey everyone! NFi Studios, the fantastic web design company I'm currently interning with, is being proactive in the community by hoping to raise over $1,000 for Orlando's Relay For Life. Each of us needs to raise only $100, and we'll be able to reach this goal. If you can help with any small monetary donation, the cost of a coffee or a lunch, I would appreciate it greatly! If you are in the Orlando area, feel free to come out and walk with us! I'll let you know exactly when I'll be out there as soon as I'm scheduled! Thank you in advance. Thank you, thank you, thank you! "Relay For Life is a wonderful community event that raises money to combat this disease and to spread awareness about how we can protect ourselves from cancer. It is a fun-filled event that brings together people of all ages to camp-out and take turns walking around a track for 18 hours to signify that cancer never sleeps. It’s a time of celebrating those who have battled the disease, remembering those who have died and a chance to fight back against a disease that takes too much from too many." Donate or Sign Up Here!
